| WAIT STATIONS - SETTING UP THE SCENE
In today's foodservice establishments a higher degree of professional service is expected by the consumer. The waitstaff is now not only responsible for serving the food, preparing drinks, salads and desserts but is further expected to engage in pleasant, casual conversation while covering multiple stations.
Many manufacturers in today's market place have listened to the requests and needs of today's restaurant owners and answered them by introducing products to assist in "behind the scenes" efficiency and sanitation.
One of the answers to "behind the scenes" efficiency is a heavy duty stainless steel Beverage Table. This workstation is ideal in any wait station because
- The heavy duty stainless steel cabinet is available in widths of 24", 30" and 36" and lengths ranging from 4' to 12' to accommodate any size wait staff.
- A duplex electrical outlet mounted in the center of the backsplash allows for hook up of a coffee machine and soda machines, cappacino machines, and any other necessary electrical appliance.
- A 12x20 integrally welded sink in the table top allows for handwashing, a must in any work area, eliminating any unnecessary trips to the kitchen, bathroom, etc.
- An intermediate shelf mounted under the table top allows for additional storage of water glasses, pitchers and dishes.
A front hinge door and open back under the sink area permits for easy access to plumbing fixtures.
- You are not limited to a standard Beverage Table in today's marketplace as many manufacturer's offer a wide array of stock accessories and modifications to customize your workstation to suit your wait staff's specific needs allowing for efficiency, organization and speed.
- If your wait station requires a can opener to open such items as cans of desert toppings, etc. then you can include a Can Opener mounted to the table top.
- Most wait stations include soda machines, filtered water dispensers and coffee machines therefore you certainly would want to include an urn trough in your workstation to collect spills, etc.
- A drop in filler station is ideal for filling water glasses and pitchers.
- To further eliminate unnecessary trips into the kitchen for your wait staff, extend your countertop to include a three tier drawer unit mounted under countertop for storage of necessary items such as extra utensils, linens, candles, order pads, etc.
- If the majority of your deserts prep'd on pans for dry storage you could include an aluminum pan rack slide mounted under counter or table top. Aluminum pan rack slides hold up to 6 pans and are ideal when it comes to easy access to deserts and other necessary pre prepped items.
- For storage of ice, butter, lemons, jelly, cold desserts, etc. manufacturers do have the ability to customize workstations to accommodate undercounter refrigeration units.
- If space is a necessity (and you also want to hide an unsightly trash receptacle) install a disposal cone in the counter/table top for efficient storage of trash receptacles.
Although every job function in a restaurant is equally important the one person who makes the lasting impression is the waitress/waiter therefore by customizing your wait station into an efficient and sanitary workstation you allow for prompt service, a happy wait staff and ultimately a satisfied customer!
